CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A teenager from Milton died this week in a boating accident while on vacation with her family in Aruba, school officials said.

13-year-old Cassidy Murray died on Wednesday, the Buckingham Browne & Nichols School said in a letter to students and parents, according to WBZ-TV. The Head of School Jennifer Price said that the middle school would be open on Saturday for families to gather in grief on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Cassidy's family released a statement. "Cassidy’s beautiful spirit, genuinely kind heart, bright mind, and joyful zest for life will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.”

Cassidy transferred from Milton Public Schools, where Superintendent James Jette said she was "outstanding and joyful." According to WBZ-TV, Cassidy was a seventh grader at BB&N while her brother attends the school as a 10th grade student. “I’ve been reached out by a family, who has connections with Aruba, that the nation is mourning her loss. It’s tragic and it’s horrible. She was immediately one of those kids who united the class, and they just say that she oozed kindness. She was one of those kids. She lit up a room with a smile," Price said.
