The Forbes Advisor study reports Massachusetts has the fourth lowest rate of drunken driving in the country.
New Jersey was the safest while Montana was the most dangerous.
Six of the top ten safest states are in the northeast while along with Montana in the number one spot as most dangerous, Texas and South Dakota are second and third respectively.
The study also said that more than 40% of all drivers nationwide have witnessed a family member or friend get in a car and drive after having at least one drink.
