Massachusetts Close To 21,000 Coronavirus Cases, 600 Deaths

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Out of the more than 102,000 coronavirus tests conducted in Massachusetts over the past ten weeks, nearly 21,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the state.

According to the daily data released on Friday afternoon by the state Department of Public Health, Middlesex and Suffolk Counties have the highest number of residents who have tested positive, with each county reporting close to 4,500 cases.

Residents of long-term care facilities account for around ten percent of the state's total cases, and they make up more than 40 percent of the deaths attributed to the virus in Massachusetts.

So far 11,094 women in Massachusetts have tested positive for the virus, compared to 9,653 men.
