Massachusetts Coronavirus Death Toll Nears 4,000

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has reported an additional 1,952 confirmed cases of coronavirus, bringing the state's total number of cases to 66,263.

The state also reported an additional 130 deaths attributed to the virus on Saturday, raising the state's COVID-related death toll to 3,846. Nearly 60 percent of those deaths have been reported in long-term care facilities.

According to the DPH, there have been nearly 300,000 coronavirus tests conducted in the state so far. More than 9,300 of those tests were done in the past day, with 21 percent testing positive.

Middlesex and Suffolk Counties are still seeing the most cases in the state, followed by Essex, Norfolk, and Worcester Counties.
