BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – Firefighters from Massachusetts are getting ready to respond to emergencies in some of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Ida.

As first responders in Louisiana have been working tirelessly since the storm hit, ten local firefighters from Lynnfield, Carlisle and Dalton head down south to offer some much-needed downtime.

“This crew will be able to provide services in support of those local first responders, so they can get some rest,” said State Fire Marshal Peter Ostroskey.

He added that the Massachusetts crew will also deal with some of the issues Louisiana crews have at home.

The firefighters are bringing their own personal protective equipment as well as their own fire suppression gear and vehicles.
