BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A study published Tuesday ranked Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital as the second-best in the country.

U.S. News & World Report's 2019-2020 Best Hospitals ranking rated hospitals in categories like cancer treatment, cardiology, and more, but a 20-hospital "honor roll" listed their picks for the best facilities nationwide.

Mass General was ranked behind Rochester, Minnesota's Mayo Clinic. Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland ranked third.

"We analyze data from nearly 5,000 medical centers and survey responses from more than 30,000 physicians to rank hospitals in 16 adult specialties," U.S. News & World Report said.

MGH was also rated second in diabetes and endocrinology treatment and first in psychiatric treatment.

Massachusetts hospitals ranked high in other categories, too.

Boston's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary ranked second in the ear, nose, and throat category; McLean Hospital in Belmont ranked second in psychiatry; Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital ranked third in rehabilitation.
