BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – As record numbers of immigrant families continue to arrive in Massachusetts, Governor Healey is sending members of her administration to the U.S. southern border.
Their goal is to meet with representatives from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, among others, and educate them about the state's immigration issues.
It's also to make clear to immigrant families that Massachusetts shelters are full.
The team of five is headed up by the state's Emergency Assistance Director General Scott Rice.
Along with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, the team will be holding meetings in Texas with representatives from four of the most common points of entry for families crossing the border.
Members from non-governmental organizations and migrant families will also be included in some of the meetings.
