Massachusetts Nears 107,000 Cases Of COVID-19

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With 286 new coronavirus cases reported on Saturday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has confirmed nearly 107,000 cases of COVID-19 since mid-March.

The state DPH also confirmed an additional 28 virus-related deaths, and another 181 deaths among probable cases, bringing the state's COVID-19 death toll to 7,828.

Close to 5,000 of those deaths were reported in long-term care facilities.

The DPH said more than 14,000 individuals had been tested for coronavirus over the past 24 hours, and around 1,100 of those individuals were given antibody tests.

Middlesex County remains the county with the highest number of cases in the state, with more than 23,500 cases confirmed so far.

Suffolk County, where Boston is located, has nearly 20,000 cases, Essex County has just under 16,000 cases, and Worcester County has more than 12,000 cases.
