Massachusetts Nears 118,500 Confirmed Cases Of Coronavirus

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The state Department of Public Health has reported another 174 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 13 more deaths have been attributed to the virus.

As of Sunday, the Commonwealth's total number of confirmed cases stands at 118,483, and there have been 8,816 total deaths among confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Two of the state's important COVID-19 health metrics hit their lowest rates to date on Sunday; the seven-day weighted average rate of positive COVID-19 tests dipped to 0.9 percent, and the three-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital fell to 302.

On Sunday, Boston Children's Hospital reported five confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients, three of whom are in intensive care.

As the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports, there have been around six million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and more than 182,000 deaths in the U.S. in about six months.
