BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With an additional 1,512 cases confirmed on Saturday, the state Department of Public Health has now confirmed nearly 85,000 cases of coronavirus in Massachusetts.
The DPH also reported an additional 113 deaths attributed to the virus, two-thirds of which were reported in long-term care facilities. That brings the state's COVID-related death toll to 5,705.
Approximately 75 percent of the total coronavirus deaths in Massachusetts were reported in the last four weeks.
According to the new data, there have been close to 450,000 coronavirus tests conducted in Massachusetts so far. On Saturday, 12 percent of reported tests were positive for the virus.
Three percent of all coronavirus cases in Massachusetts are currently hospitalized, which is more than 2,600 people. The DPH says around 48 percent of the state's hospital beds, including ICU and surge capacity beds, are occupied.
