Massachusetts Passes 1 Million COVID-19 Cases

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts has passed a massive and grim pandemic milestone. The state officially reached 1 million total COVID cases on Tuesday night, as the pandemic enters its third calendar year. The exact count was 1,002,266.

The state continues to see sky-high daily case-counts, with 9,228 new, confirmed cases reported by the state on Tuesday. 1,707 people were in the hospital from the virus, with 381 in the ICU.

63 more people had died. The state broke its single-day case counts three days in a row on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — with more than 10,000 cases recorded in a single day on Friday.
