BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Republican State Committee (MassGOP) reelected Amy Carnevale to lead the state’s Republican Party Saturday.
Carnevale has been leading the party since 2023 and says she is already looking ahead to the 2026 governor’s election, seeing an opportunity for Republicans to regain the position after former Gov. Charlie Baker left in 2023.
“We’re hearing from a lot of independent voters that they are ready for a change,” State Committee Chairperson Carnevale told WBZ NewsRadio.
Carnevale said she thinks the Healey administration continues to struggle with some of the biggest issues in the Commonwealth, like the "migrant crisis and affordability." She believes voters in Massachusetts will “support” and “welcome” the incoming presidential administration’s plan in addressing the migrant issue.
Meanwhile, the Boston Globe reported Thursday that criminal background checks ordered by Gov. Healey last spring were not being conducted at state shelters.
“I think voters really want to see two-party government return to Massachusetts,” Carnevale said.
