BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirmed another 1,612 cases of coronavirus on Friday, bringing the state's total to 75,333. About 20 percent of those cases have been reported in long-term care facilities.
The DPH also reported an additional 150 deaths attributed to the virus, for a total of 4,702 deaths in the state. That's nearly double the number of COVID-related fatalities reported two weeks ago. One of the deaths reported on Friday was a person in their 20's.
With another 14,391 coronavirus tests conducted since yesterday, more than 366,000 tests have been completed so far in Massachusetts. On Friday, around 11 percent of those tests came back positive for the virus.
Middlesex County has the most cases in the state with more than 17,000 confirmed cases, followed by Suffolk County with nearly 15,000 cases.
