Massachusetts Tops 25,000 Coronavirus Cases

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, more than 25,000 people in the state now have confirmed cases of coronavirus.

There were 2,615 new cases reported on Sunday, marking the state's largest single-day jump in cases so far. The DPH also reported 70 new deaths attributed to the virus, bringing the death toll in Massachusetts to 756.

More than 3,000 residents or workers at 199 nursing care facilities across the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Sunday's death toll included the state's second person in their 30's to die of coronavirus. The man from Plymouth County had pre-existing health conditions, and was not hospitalized with the virus.
