Massachusetts Unveils New Tool To Check COVID-19 Vaccine Availability

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The state of Massachusetts has unveiled a new online tool to help residents check the availability of COVID-19 vaccines.

The Baker Administration said in a press release that it will “help residents more easily find COVID-19 vaccination locations available to all residents and view appointment availability for some sites.”

The COVID-19 Vaccine Finder does not include every vaccine site in the state, and it is not a central booking system. Anyone looking to make an appointment still has to go through the central booking system, or call the hotline at 211.

This comes as the state faces criticism over their vaccine distribution plan. A group of lawmakers on Beacon Hill have asked Gov. Baker to consider a centralized rollout, a pre-registration system, and to consider leaning less on private, for-profit health companies for the rollout.

During a virtual press briefing Friday morning, state officials said they were constantly working to improve the vaccine rollout tools and the rollout itself.

The COVID-19 Vaccine Finder can be found here.
