BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation held its annual low plate lottery drawing Tuesday.
Rather than money, concert tickets, or memorabilia, the unique lottery offers a chance to win a license plate with a small amount of letters and numbers, as opposed to the six digits on standard Massachusetts plates.

This year, more than 18,000 people applied for a shot to win 298 available plates, including "2X," "34," "56G," and "P13."
Registry of Motor Vehicles officials announced the winners during a livestream Tuesday afternoon.
According to the RMV, winners will be notified on how to transfer their current registration to the new plates. Winners have until Dec. 31, 2024 to swap their plates. After that date, unclaimed plates will be forfeited and given to alternate winners.
