While some may be traveling, others in Cambridge geared up for the return of classes. WBZ NewsRadio spoke to Dylan, a graduate assistant at Boston University who is involved with freshman orientation on campus.
“With back to school and people moving in, it’s [already] hectic, so I won’t be driving,” he said.
Another resident said that he will be doing everything he can to avoid the roads this weekend.
“Worst case scenario if it’s a late night out maybe take an uber home but for the most part I’ll be trying to avoid that [by] walking, biking, taking mass transit,” he said.
Jeremy from Cambridge told WBZ NewsRadio that he plans to not venture too far from home this weekend either.

“I’ll be going to the Somerville Theater and catching a couple movies. It’s kind of nice to just stay in the city and not get out of it. I feel like I’m constantly working all the time, so it’s nice to just relax and enjoy the city,” he said.
MassDOT said in a press release that “to ensure reliable travel, they will be deploying the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane on I-93 between Boston and Quincy earlier than usual, opening at 1 p.m. on Friday.
MassDOT also added that “everyone should consider taking trips at off-peak hours and considering using public transportation, if possible, to reach destinations.”
