BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — AT&T resolved its nationwide service outage Thursday afternoon, the company said in a statement.

"SOS" symbols flashed across the screens of affected phones when the outage struck Thursday morning. The devices were unable to connect to the internet, send text messages or make calls.

Customers nationwide experienced the outage.

"We sincerely apologize to them," AT&T said in a statement. "Keeping our customers connected remains our top priority, and we are taking steps to ensure our customers do not experience this again in the future.”

Verizon and T-Mobile both released statements saying their networks were operating normally.

The outage did not affect all AT&T users.

“Overall, [it’s] looking good, but I’m skeptical always,” one AT&T customer told WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas.

AT&T has not released the cause of the outage.
