BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A "remote terminal" for Logan Airport flyers could become a reality as soon as next summer.
Massport says it is planning to run a pilot program in 2026 that would allow passengers to go through a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint at the Logan Express lot in Framingham, check any bags, take a bus to either Terminal A or Terminal C, and arrive past security.

"We're trying to make it easier for customers to get here," Massport CEO Rich Davey told WBZ NewsRadio Thursday.
Massport is building a temporary modular building on the Framingham lot to accommodate the pilot, which still needs TSA approval.
"TSA and Massport are looking to partner in enhancing the customer experience and reducing congestion at Boston Logan," TSA Spokesperson Dan Velez said in a statement. "Active discussions are still taking place between TSA and other stakeholders. This initiative is still in development and not yet finalized."
There is also the possibility of expanding the program should the pilot prove successful.
"My goal is, if this is successful in Framingham next summer, then we would make it permanent in Framingham, maybe Braintree, for example, Woburn," Davey said.
Travelers at Logan who spoke to WBZ about the proposed remote terminal had mixed reactions.
"It’s definitely interesting," one woman said. "I don’t know how I feel about it. It sounds cool in concept, as long as they can do all the safety protocols."
"[You would have to] wait in line, sit where there might be less seating, and then get on a shuttle, only to get bused to where you want to be in the first place," another traveler said.
