BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Delta airplane hangar was transformed at Logan Airport to house MassPort's annual Aviation and Maritime STEM Expo, an event geared to introduce students to careers in science and technology.

Nearly 2,100 students from across the region attended the hands-on expo, and over 30 aircraft were on display.

Bailey Edwards, with the FAA, encouraged the students to get up-close and personal with airplanes.

"All too often, we're told 'Look, but don't touch'," Edwards said. "Today, I encourage you to do more than just look. Climb into the cockpit. Put your hands on the yoke. Talk to a pilot or mechanic, ask how the plane works. At the FAA, we understand that this engagement makes a difference."
