BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mayor Marty Walsh declared racism a public health crisis in the City of Boston.

Walsh said the city is determined to make systemic change.

As part of this effort, Walsh said three million dollars will be transferred from the Boston Police overtime budget to the public health commission to look into issues regarding racism.

"We are not going to let this moment or this movement pass us by," Walsh said. "I pledge to make Boston a national leader in this work."

Walsh also said a new task force will be created to review of the Boston Police Department and will give recommendations in 60 days on how to change.
