BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mayor Michelle Wu has announced the winners of a funding grant that will help place residents into life sciences careers on Thursday. “The funding plans to leverage Greater Boston’s position as the global leader in life sciences to develop more inclusive training and career pathways for Boston residents,” according to a press release.
“Boston is the home for big ideas that can change the world. As Mayor, my goal is to ensure that Boston remains the best place in the world to start and grow a life sciences company—to create life-saving innovations and great jobs for our residents,” said Mayor Wu.
The recipients of the funding grants come from several higher education institutions such as Bunker Hill Community College, Mass General Brigham, Quincy College, Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology, Roxbury Community College, and the Massachusetts Biotechnology Education Foundation (Mass BioEd.)
The City’s Life Sciences Workforce Initiative was developed with support from the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, which enhances research and develops new curriculum and teaching tools to help leaders solve real world problems.
