BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is taking the holiday season to look back on the past year and look forward to what the new year will bring.
“I love this job; it’s just the greatest gift in the whole world to me to be able to be part of this community and to see how much we can accomplish when Boston comes together,” Wu said.
The mayor expressed her enthusiasm for the job that Boston elected her to do three years ago.

Wu has an optimistic outlook for what 2025 will bring but also understands how much still needs to be done to build a better city.
“Especially as we enter the next four years, there is a lot of work to do, and we know that people across the country are going to be looking to Boston for what that leading light looks like,” Wu added.
With a Republican controlled bureaucracy taking power in January, Wu, along with other Democratic governors and mayors across the country are preparing for how they will protect their values on a local level.
“We’re monitoring everything very carefully and you know, in terms of federal funding have gone through all our grants and are working very closely to make sure that everything is turned into firm contract language,” said Wu.
She said that she hopes for the best for Boston but is prepared for whatever a second Trump administration delivers.
“That’s what we will do, and we hope that at every level of government we will have partners and allies to move [our agenda] forward, but we’ll be ready for anything.”
While there has been no official announcement yet from Wu or her office, all indications are that she will announce her candidacy for a second term as mayor in 2025.
