MBTA Police Bust Brooklyn Man With 10 Pounds Of Pot

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Recreational cannabis may be legalized now in Massachusetts, but MBTA Transit Police said they arrested a man carrying way more than the amount allowed under the law at South Station Bus Terminal Thursday.

Steve Theard, 36 of Brooklyn, New York, is charged with possession with the intent to distribute.

Transit Police said a concerned employee notified officers "of a very pungent odor of marijuana coming from a particular travel bag" near the Concord Coach Bus boarding area.

Officers found that Theard was carrying 10 pounds of marijuana in the bag, as well as a scale.

Under Massachusetts General Laws Part I, Title XV, Chapter 94G, Section 7, a person is allowed to carry no more than an ounce of marijuana on them, and keep no more than 10 ounces in their home.
