BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Ferry service to Boston could start in multiple cities on the North Shore.

The MBTA and MassDOT asked residents in some cities throughout Massachusetts, including Lynn, Chelsea, Everett, and Gloucester for their feedback to determine where to expand their ferry service to Boston.

Gerry Shea, a Swampscott resident, and Lilly, a Hull resident, are both daily riders of the ferry. They think there's no better way to get into Boston and are glad MBTA and MassDOT are planning to expand the service to more locations.

"I'm happy that they are expanding it, a lot of communities will benefit. It's a fun way to get to work, you can take your bike, your scooter, whatever you need. The crew is very helpful," Shea said.

"It's so convenient for people that commute into Boston for work and there's definitely a huge population of that in the North Shore communities like Everett and Chelsea, it would probably be very enriching for those places," Lilly said.

She said getting to look out at the water is another huge plus and called it "super beautiful."

The MBTA and MassDOT are now reviewing the public feedback to determine the next steps in their expansion study process.
