MBTA Announces Commuter Rail Changes For Fall/Winter

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and Keolis Commuter Services announced the upcoming 2026 Fall/Winter Commuter Rail schedules on Monday.

According to the MBTA, schedule changes will occur on the Fitchburg, Haverhill, Lowell, Needham, Newburyport/Rockport, and Providence/Stoughton Lines.

Schedules will be altered to improve resiliency and better align with Amtrak schedules.

Train numbers across all lines will also change.

Schedules for the Fall River/New Bedford, Framingham/Worcester, Greenbush, and Kingston lines will not be affected by the schedule change.

The MBTA adds the Franklin/Foxborough Line will remain on a construction schedule while important track work is completed, and some train departure times have been adjusted.

The schedule changes are set to go into effect on October 26.
