MBTA Announces Service Changes For Sept. On Green, Orange, Blue & Fitchburg

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA announced service changes for September on the Green, Orange, Blue and Fitchburg lines on Friday.

“Service changes are taking place to support renewal and revitalization work on the Green and Blue lines, GLTPS (Green Line Train Protection System) installation, Orange Line signal upgrades, accessibility improvements at Jackson Square, and the North Station Terminal Area Signal System Improvement Project," according to the T. 

Service on the Green Line D Branch will be suspended between Riverside and Kenmore from Sept. 3-11.

Orange Line service will be suspended between North Station and Forest Hills on the two weekends of Sept 13-14 and 27-28. It will also bypass Jackson Square starting at 9 p.m. on Sept. 17 through Sept.19 and 9 p.m. on Sept. 24 through Sept. 26 from the Forest Hills-bound direction and Sept. 20-21 from both directions.

Blue Line service will be suspended between Bowdoin and Airport from 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 through Sept.21.

The Fitchburg Commuter Rail will be suspended between Fitchburg and Wachusett from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Sept.15-23. It will also be suspended between North Station and Porter Square on Sept. 20-21 and Sept. 26-28.

Alternative transportation options such as shuttle buses will be provided in some capacity for all affected lines
