BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA is looking for rider feedback as it plans to roll out its proposed Green Line mega-trolleys within the next few years.
The Type 10 train models would feature 100% “low floors,” which is aimed at making boarding easier for passengers with mobility issues.
The MBTA will hold an event at Boston City Hall Plaza on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, to allow riders to board mock-up versions of the trolleys and share their feedback directly with T designers.
The proposed trolleys will include wider doors, provide easier access on and off the trains, and an increased level of safety and reliability.
Other accessibility features of the proposed Type 10 models will include larger visual messaging signs for increased visibility of visual stop announcements, digital passenger information screens to provide riders with real-time service information, including information on service disruptions.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke to some riders about the trolleys and what they would like to see from the project.
“As long as it’s faster. People need to get to work, and people need to move around the city,” one rider said.
“I think it’s just mainly the speed that’s the issue so if they can improve that in any way it would be great,” another rider said.
“Yeah, definitely if it’s safer and more reliable, I think safety is a number one priority, but I’d also like to get to work on time,” another added.
The MBTA hopes the first mega-trolley will be operational by 2027.
