MBTA Commuter Rail Train Fire Put Out At North Station

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A fire broke out on an MBTA Commuter Rail train at North Station Friday afternoon.

Boston firefighters were seen working on top of the train at around 1:30 p.m.

The Boston Fire Department said the fire was in the train's engine.

The fire was extinguished and no one was injured, the department said.

When reached for comment, a spokesperson for Commuter Rail operator Keolis said, "A mechanical issue on a spare train set resulted in a small fire contained to a locomotive parked at the far end of the platform at North Station. There were no passengers on board at the time. The Boston Fire Department responded, and the situation was quickly resolved. There were no injuries, and the locomotive has been taken out of service. There are no impacts to Commuter Rail service at this time."
