BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) A service suspension on the MBTA Green Line D Branch went into effect Wednesday, with shuttle buses replacing service between Kenmore and Riverside stations.

The closure will go through Sept. 11 for track and infrastructure work, according to the T.

No shuttles will be making stops at Beaconsfield. There’s also express shuttle service between Copley and Newton Highlands.

Regular Green Line riders in Newton on Wednesday morning didn’t seem too annoyed by the service suspension.

“It’s less than ideal, but they give us enough heads up,” said one rider.

“The buses seem to be running pretty well,” said another rider.

Riders said the buses add about 45 minutes to their commute, but many agreed that it was still better than paying for parking in Boston.

“I’m not driving in, that’s for sure,” said one rider.

Some commuters also said they were hopeful about more track improvements.

“It’s the oldest subway system in the country and you can tell, but progress is progress,” said another rider.
