BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Commonwealth Pier for the new MBTA 'F10 Harbor Loop' ferry.
It's been running for about two weeks, providing year-round, weekday service on Boston Harbor.
It runs year-round, weekday service, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. connecting Lovejoy Wharf (North Station), Central Wharf (Aquarium), Seaport, and Logan Airport.
Governor Maura Healey said the new ferry service is a more affordable, reliable, and convenient way for residents and visitors to travel between some of Boston's busiest destinations.
She said it utilizes a crucial, high-speed transit area, Boston Harbor, while bypassing congested roads and highways. "We are Bay Staters for a reason," she said. "We are forever connected to ships, we are forever connected to the ocean, and I know our administration is going to continue to look to nurture that and support that," she said.
Ferry service costs just $2.40 for a one-way ticket.
It's operated by the Bay State Cruise Company.
The F10 Harbor Loop route supplements, and does not replace, the existing Seaport Ferry route, which is operated by the Massachusetts Convention Center.
