BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The current Red Line service suspension will include the Ashmont Branch exclusively on Saturday, Sept. 28, the MBTA announced Wednesday.
The Ashmont Branch, along with the already suspended Braintree Branch, will be replaced with shuttle buses for the day.
This will allow construction crews to complete necessary track work to remove the branch’s speed restriction, the MBTA said.
Crews will also use this closure to perform tunnel inspections and repairs, as well as check for potential water infiltration, the agency added.
Service on the Ashmont Branch will resume on Sunday, Sept. 29. Braintree service will resume on Monday, Sept. 30.
