BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Red Sox and MBTA are teaming up to make sure concertgoers can get home from Monday's Guns N' Roses show for no cost to riders.
The duo is offering free subway rides from Kenmore Station on the Green Line after the show ends. The fare gates will open at 10 p.m. and stay open until the end of train service.
Kenmore Station offers access to the B, C, and D branches of the Green Line in both directions. Riders that need to take the E branch or the Orange, Red, or Blue Lines can use the free service to transfer to a different train.
The Red Sox will compensate the MBTA for keeping the fare gates open. Both the MBTA and Red Sox said they decided to offer this service as a way for people to get in and out of Fenway Park easily because the parking around the park is limited.
“We are excited to partner with the Red Sox to offer free subway rides to Guns N’ Roses fans,” MBTA General Manager Phil Eng said in a statement. “This is a great way to encourage people to take public transportation to and from the concert and help reduce traffic congestion in the area.”
Guns N' Roses will play Monday night only at Fenway and will be joined by The Pretenders. Tickets are still available on the Red Sox website.
