BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority announced spring 2024 service changes, many of which have begun Sunday. Many of the changes are related to service frequency.

Red Line (April 7)

The frequency of Red Line service is increasing every day because of improved track conditions.

Green Line (April 7)

During the week, B and D branches will start running more frequently during morning and evening peak periods, and the C and E branches will increase all day.

On the weekends, Saturday trips will start to shift throughout the day to improve schedule reliability. On Sundays, the B, C, and D branches will run more often all day.

However, the E Line is decreasing its frequency on Sundays "to provide more even balance of trains across the four lines," said the MBTA.

In general, there will be more weekend capacity for all Green Line branches in the morning and evening because of the addition of the two-car train operation.

Orange Line (April 7)

There are some slight changes to the Orange Line service, with weekday frequency increasing from every eight minutes to closer to seven minutes during peak periods.

Recent additions of new trains have made this change possible.

Blue Line (April 7)

The Blue Line train frequency is increasing between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. during the week because of the high demand for it.

Bus Service (April 7)

Starting Sunday, there will be a variety of bus service changes affecting frequency, scheduling, and routing.

Routes 34, 116, and 121 have decreased their service frequency compared to winter schedules.

The MBTA said that routes 83, 91, and 120 have routing changes starting Sunday.

Here is a full list of bus service changes.

Commuter Rail

The MBTA has not released the Commuter Rail's spring and summer service changes.

Ferry Service

The East Boston ferry resumed service on April 1.

Lynn and Winthrop ferries will resume on April 29, and the weekend Hingham/Hull/Logan to Boston ferry will begin on May 25 for Memorial Day weekend.
