BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As the economy slowly reopens due to coronavirus, the MBTA will increase service on the trains and bus routes June 21.
Former Massachusetts Transportation Secretary Jim Aloisi said this comes as both good and bad news.
Good news is that the agency is focusing on highly-used bus routes. However, he believes they should be paying more attention to the trains.
The Blue Line will be the only train to resume full service. The Orange, Red, and Green lines that have seen a steep drop-off in ridership during the pandemic will have extra trains running.
Ferries and the commuter rail will regain about 80 precent of their service.
