BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA plans to host an open house to make sure riders are on board with plans to temporarily close the B Branch of the Green for part of July.

The Green Line's B Branch will be closed from Monday, July 17 to July 28 as crews work to place more than 2,000 feet of track at Packard's Corner and between Harvard Avenue and Allston Street—the same area where a Green Line trolley derailed earlier in June. Shuttle busses will replace service during that stretch of the B Line during the closure.

The MBTA is hosting an open house Wednesday, June 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boston University's Sleep Auditorium to help answer any questions riders have. One rider was disappointed to hear the MTBA was closing down the stretch of the Green Line.

"Well here we go again," he said. "If they're making any kind of improvements I guess all we can do is hope and wait for the best."

However, some people have just accepted that closures are necessary to help the MBTA fix some of its issues.

"Safety is the most important thing so I hope they can do that," one rider said. "It's a little inconvenient but if they have to do maintenance then they have to do maintenance. I get it."
