REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — MBTA Transit Police said a man was arrested early Tuesday morning after threatening and chasing a man who did not give him a cigarette.

Mario Porrata, 37, allegedly approached the victim around 2 a.m. at the MBTA Blue Line's Wonderland stop and asked for a cigarette. The victim said they didn't have any, but planned to buy some soon.

The victim told police that's when Porrata said, "How about I just rob you instead?" and made a motion as if he had a weapon.

When the victim ran, Porrata chased them, but gave up when the victim called 911.

Revere Police found Porrata near Wonderland station, identified him with the victim's help, and arrested him, charging him with armed assault with intent to rob.

Porrata was then taken into Transit Police custody.
