BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An MBTA operator has been placed on administrative leave following a crash between two Green Line trolleys on Friday.

According to WBZ-TV, MBTA officials made the announcement on Saturday. The employee has allegedly been working for the transit authority for seven years.

It comes after over 20 people were injured in the crash when one trolley rear-ended another on Commonwealth Avenue near the Agganis Arena at Boston University.

Officials said the operator of the other trolley car involved in the crash has not been placed on leave.

The crash is currently being investigated by the MBTA and the National Transportation Safety Board. It is still unclear what caused the two cars to collide.

Meanwhile, MBTA officials said construction on the B Branch that was set for this weekend has now been cancelled.
