KINGSTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A cult-classic menu item is back at McDonald’s for a limited time.

The McRib, the popular barbecue sandwich, officially made its return on the menu Tuesday.

“I would buy three or four of them, especially if [I’m] on vacation,” Cliff from Pembroke told WBZ NewsRadio.

The annual, limited-run of the sandwich has turned into one of the most anticipated events for McDonald’s fans.

“They make for a great midnight snack,” Cliff added.

Guillaume Huin, McDonald’s Senior Marketing Director, posted on social media that it is their “most-mentioned limited-time product online.”

The McRib was first introduced in 1981 but was retired off the menu around the early 2000s. Since then, the company only brings back the sandwich in limited batches for some dedicated fans.

Despite the hype around the product online, Jim from Kingston said he likes to stick with items that are on the menu year-round.

“[For my order], it’ll probably a Fillet-O-Fish,” he said.
