MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Medford dog-walker is facing charges after a video was released of him allegedly abusing a dog.

Frederick Ingrando, 33, pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty charges in Somerville District Court on Monday.

Medford Police said Ingrando was walking a group of five dogs when he started hitting and yelling at one of the dogs before grabbing the dog by the collar "in a harmful manner." Police went to Fellsway West and Sheridan Ave to investigate around 11 a.m. on Sunday.

A witness took a video of the alleged abuse and gave it to police to review. Police later arrested Ingrando and charged him with animal cruelty.

Ingrando did not own any of the dogs. He was hired as a dog-walker. The dogs were taken out of his care and given back to their owners. The dog who was allegedly hit repeatedly was taken to a local veterinarian for evaluation.

Police are investigating.
