MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — From Minecraft to Mortal Kombat, the Medford Police Station had a variety of games available to play at their department's annual Video Game Day.
A trailer was parked in front of the Medford Police Station on Thursday, labeled “The Ultimate Mobile Gaming Truck.” The walls were lined with flat screens and gaming systems on one side, and young gamers were invited to face off with Medford police officers in multiple games.
“So it can definitely be a little rambunctious, we have some of the officers making sure some kids are having fun respectfully,” Lieutenant Charlie Hartnett said. “It’s important because we want to be able to have officers interact with kids.”
The event was funded by a community engagement grant.
“We want them to know, kind of the name and face beyond the badge,” Hartnett said.
