Medical Professionals Form Black COVID-19 Coalition

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The National Medical Association is the largest group of African-American doctors in the country.

According to NAM President Dr. Leon McDougal, they have helped create a Black coalition against COVID-19 in partnership with several Black medical schools and other key medical organizations.

"We are committed to Black lives, and Black bodies," McDougal said.

The Black Coalition Against Covid is working on ways to make sure the coronavirus vaccine and information about it is easily accessible to Black communities.

"We're making sure that sites of administration are within the fine minute walk or one-fourth mile of public transportation, the messaging is culturally sensitive, and in some cases, the vaccine is going to them."
