MELROSE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Melrose Police Department said that they are investigating shots fired at a vehicle Friday afternoon.
According to a statement from the MPD, police were dispatched at around 3 P.M to the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Mount Vernon Street following a report of shots fired.
Police said that on-scene investigation determined that the suspect was a black male, about six feet tall, and wore a Chicago Bulls jacket and pair of sweatpants. The suspect allegedly fled from the scene on foot southbound down Main Street after firing two rounds in the direction of a vehicle.

Melrose Police said that they believe the shooter and occupants inside the vehicle may have known each other, and that there is no threat to the community coming from this incident.
Police said that the incident remains under investigation.
