CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — With live music being performed from the sidewalk, courtesy of The Modular Troop, a line of people was waiting for their bicycles to get a free tune-up on Wednesday.

No advance registration was needed.

It was first-come, first-served, and business was brisk at the MIT-run event. "I think this is amazing," said one of the customers waiting for her bike to be returned. "Especially with the music playing, I think spending some time outdoors is really good."

Held at the MIT Open Space in Cambridge, and with bicycle technicians from Casa Bikes the event was free and open to all.

Bicycles of all types and in various conditions were getting worked on. "I've got two flat tires, front and back, and I haven't touched it since summer of last year," said a customer, adding that she hoped the bike technicians would be able to get her back on the road.

Jess Smith is from MIT, and she said for anyone who missed Wednesday's event, another one is being held next Wednesday, Apr. 23. "All of our events are free and open to the public, and so we welcome our friends and neighbors," Smith said.
