FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The New England Patriots hired Mike Vrabel as their next head coach.
He replaces Jerod Mayo, who was fired last week after coaching for one season, and fans are excited about the new leadership.
“I’m all for him, I like him,” Tommy told WBZ NewsRadio. “[He’s] more experienced, tougher.”
Vrabel coached the Tennessee Titans for the last six years and served as coordinator for Ohio State and the Houston Texans. In addition, Vrabel won coach of the year in 2021 and was inducted into Patriots Hall of Fame in 2023.
“He’s been a good head coach,” Henry said. “He knows how to handle a lock room. He’s had some strong seasons with the Titans."
Vrabel returns to the Patriots after playing as a linebacker for the team from 2001 to 2008, where he won three Super Bowl Championships.
John noted that both Vrabel and Mayo had past experiences as a Patriots player, and "I don’t know how much help that’s going to be for him," he said.
No further details about his contract with the Patriots have been disclosed.
