BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The U.S. Department of Defense is planning to hold a sky-high celebration this 4th of July across several major U.S. cities on the East coast, including Boston.
On Saturday, the DOD announced it is planning "an aerial salute some of the cities that played a role in the American Revolution," although a timetable is yet to be released.
After flying over Boston, the jets will head to New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington D.C.
Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Chris Mitchell said the "DOD will [also] provide aerial, musical and ceremonial support to this year's celebration in Washington, D.C."
Approximately 1,700 service members will participate in the Independence Day celebrations across the U.S.
