MILTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Stephanie Leguia was talking to a neighbor in her Milton yard around noon Sunday when something large fell from the sky, crashing through a tree and slamming into the ground just feet from where she stood.
It turns out the item that fell was an un-inflated evacuation slide that came loose from a Delta Airlines jet approaching Logan Airport to land.
Delta officials said the slide somehow came loose from the wing of a plane that was on final approach into Boston from Paris.
The FAA says the jet’s pilot reported a loud noise around the same time the slide fell into the yard.
No one was injured, the plane landed safely, and Delta maintenance works came to Milton to retrieve the slide.
In 2010, the body of a 16-year-old boy who had stowed away on a commercial airliner in its wheel compartment fell to the ground in Milton as the plane approached Logan Airport.
