CONCORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Minute Man National Historical Park is putting on the finishing touches for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution.

After temporary closing the park’s Battle Road Trail last year for refurbishments, it is now officially open again.

“Just been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, and time and effort put into making sure these trails and these buildings stay as nice as they are and people can enjoy them for a long time,” Mark Powell, the Public Affair Specialist with the National Park Service, told WBZ NewsRadio.

Crews added new dirt and gravel were to the trails as well as fixed drainage and erosion problems ahead of Patriot’s Day celebrations in April.

Patriots’ Day commemorates the first battle of the American Revolution in 1775, and the national park hosts special events all month long, including the Battle Road Tactical Demonstration

“There will be demonstrations of musket fire and different types of military strategies that kind of can take you back in time allow you to stand and see maybe what these soldiers on both sides were facing during that time,” Powell said.

He added that the Patriot’s Day events at the park is the largest historically accurate reenactment and expects thousands of attendees.

“It will involve 700 living history volunteers who will demonstrate what some of the military and battle tactics were during the time,” Powell continued.
