Missing 3-Year-Old Boy Found Safe After Chicopee Abduction

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police identified the suspect arrested for allegedly abducting a three-year-old boy in Chicopee Friday as Vadim Vorobyov, 52, of Springfield, Mass.

Vorobyov faces kidnapping, child endangerment and fugitive from justice charges in Connecticut, according to a press release.

He also faces kidnapping, child endangerment and motor vehicle larceny charges in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts State Police issued an amber alert Friday morning for Liam David Pagan. Officials said Pagan was inside a red 2021 Toyota Camry when Vorobyov stole it at 8:50 a.m.

At 10:30 a.m., State Police said they had located the Camry outside a Stop & Shop at 1095 Kennedy Rd. in Windsor, Connecticut, but Pagan and Vorobyov were not inside the vehicle.

About 10 minutes later, State Police said they had located Pagan at the Rodeway Inn & Suites in Windsor and deactivated the Amber Alert.

Police arrested Vorobyov at Anytime Fitness on Kennedy Road in Windsor a short time later, according to the press release.

According to investigators, he dropped Pagan off at the hotel and drove to the shopping plaza where he left the car.
