EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A dog that was missing in Everett was found, but was given away to someone else before his family could come to collect him.

According to Everett Animal Control, "Lucky" is an elderly dog with several medical issues that went missing Monday night near a Dunkin' on Broadway. Later on, a man found Lucky and got into contact with his owner via the phone number listed on the dog's collar. Owners say the man said he would turn Lucky over to animal control, but when the owners called back, he said that he had already given the dog away.

Officials say Lucky has a collar with tags and a microchip that's locked in a specific location because of a prior issue.
